John Goreham
M.S. Student, Water Resources Management, UNLV B.S., Agriculture (Soil Science major), New Mexico State University Mr. Goreham began working at the Desert Research Institute in January 2003 as an Instrument and Field Technologist, working primarily on projects concerned with near-surface vadose zone hydrology. He began graduate school the spring semester of 2007 at UNLV and presently works as a Graduate Research Assistant at DRI where he is investigating vegetation washout in flood control channels as a function of hydraulic flow conditions with Drs. Mark Stone and Kumud Acharya. (more project information) (full resume) |

Amina Lodhi
My work at DRI began November of 2007 after earning my bachelors from UC Irvine. I graduated with a major in Environmental Analysis and Design and a minor in Biology. Currently, I do phosphorus analysis for sites such as Walker Lake, Walker River, Las Vegas Wash and Devils Hole. I am also involved with building an ecological model for the Walker Basin Project. In the near future I hope to earn a masters from UNLV and to continue with research in academia. |

Ramon Naranjo
My research interest is focused on understanding the role of streambed geochemistry and morphology on ground water-surface water interactions and implications for stream ecology. My current research project involves using heat as a tracer for quantification of flux rates, pore-water sampling and collection of macroinvertebrates using freeze core methods to obtain vertical distributions for quantification and taxonomy. The results of this investigation aim to provide transferable knowledge of hyporheic exchange, nutrient transport and impacts on benthic community structure to lower gradient systems. |

Candi Schulman
Candi recently graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences. She is currently working on several projects at DRI including Devil’s Hole, Walker Lake, and eco-toxicological studies with the invertebrate Daphnia. Her research interest lies in applied and conservation biology both from the scientific and policy aspects. Her future plans include attending graduate school to further understand the holistic methods of environmental management and policy making. |

Carolyn Link
Carolyn's research interests include aquatic ecology and chemistry. As an undergraduate student at Northern Arizona University, Carolyn worked in an aquatic ecology lab studying the Colorado River within the Grand Canyon, and also researched U-series disequilibria using ICPMS. After finishing her B.S. in Environmental Chemistry while abroad at the University of Hull, England, Carolyn began working in aquatic animal husbandry and life support monitoring. As part of beginning a master's program in Water Resource Management, she currently studies the ecology of the Quagga Mussel in Lake Mead. |
